FAQ
What exactly is happening?
SugarCRM is giving Sugar Sell for no additional charge. Sugar will convert your current license to Sell, where you can begin using the latest capabilities to help you grow your business.
How much work is involved?
For Cloud customers, Sugar will use the same process followed for quarterly releases, so there is no technical work needed to do leading up to the conversion. The conversion will coincide with the upgrade to 12.0.
For on-premises customers, Sugar will issue the Enterprise licenses for Professional customers. We highly encourage you to upgrade to the latest version to take full advantage of all the new features and capabilities in Enterprise 12.0.
What is the future of Enterprise? Is the on-premises solution continue to be offered?
Yes! Sugar will increase investments in on-premises Enterprise, making Enterprise and Sell as close to like-products as possible with a few exceptions including Cloud-only capabilities like SugarPredict and SugarLive.
If Sugar is investing more in Enterprise, why not call it "Sell On-Premises"
Despite the investments made by Sugar in Enterprise, it will never have the features equivalence to Sell to justify calling it Sell an on-premises version of Sell. In addition, all the AI advancements in cloud products will continue to provide a meaningful distinction between Enterprise and Sell solutions.
How will my job be different when I use Sell?
The look and feel will be almost identical to what you are used to today, with an exception being: you will have access to new capabilities you didn't have before. No features will be lost, only gain new ones that will increase your understanding of your customers' needs and you win more business.
When exactly will we change over to Sell?
Sugar expects to begin converting licenses to Sell on or about April 5, 2022. Your exact date is still to be determined. Sugar will send you an email notification seven days before your conversion date.
Will I lose any of my data?
No. Sugar is managing your conversion process very carefully and will ensure none of your data is lost.
Will I lose any of my reports?
No. You will still have access to all your saved reports after the conversion.
Will I lose any customizations we have in place for Sugar Professional or Enterprise?
No. All the customizations you have in place will transfer with you when you convert to Sell. Please remember that we are upgrading you to version 12.0 with the conversion, so the usual compatibility testing you currently do with quarterly upgrades will still apply.
Will I lose any features or functionality I use today?
No. With the 12.0 release, Sugar will include the functionality you use today into Sell. When you log in to Sell, you will still be able to use the features you used previously as well as access loads or other features that will do more of your work for you.
I currently use Case Management in Professional/Enterprise. Will I lose that when I come over to Sell?
No, you will not lose Case Management when you come to Sell. Case Management is among many features coming to Sell with the 12.0 release.
Will my settings change?
No. Any settings or preferences you saved prior to the conversion will remain intact after the conversion.
Is Sugar Sell secure?
Yes! Sugar encrypts data in transit and at rest, is SOC2 Type2 compliant, maintains a GDPR compliance program. Learn more about security standards on this Trust page.
What about SugarBPM Processes vs. Legacy Workflows?
The Workflows module will be removed in a future version of Sugar. Until that time, legacy workflows and SugarBPM processes may co-exist in your instance. If a situation arises where a legacy workflow and a SugarBPM process definition are triggered by the same criteria for new records, the change caused by the workflow will apply. To avoid this conflict and related confusion, we recommend using one tool or the other. In situations where you must use both, please ensure that you do not create a Sugar workflow and a SugarBPM process definition for the same target module using the same criteria. Learn more about SugarBPM processes in this article.
Should I be excited about this change?
Absolutely! We know our growth is dependent on our customers' success , and we are excited to accelerate your success with all the latest capabilities Sell has to offer.
